Lady Ada Augusta Byron

Sadly No Longer Available

"The World’s First Ever Computer Programmer" (and Countess of Lovelace), Ada was perhaps born to be something special. Her father Lord Byron was the Mick Jagger or Robbie Williams of his day, and yet they tragically never met. Her mother dominated her (and Byron), arranged her awful marriage and would have destroyed her, but for Ada’s own spirit and love of Mathematics.

Although she lost the family's wealth through gambling, Maths also gave her confidence, and for Charles Babbage she planned the way his "Difference Engines" would record their calculations. But for her young audience, besides touching on her own life, she will enthuse on the history of Mathematics and how each great mathematician made Maths simpler to understand and not more difficult.
