Marie Curie

Sadly no longer available.

Marie lead a very dour and industrious life, but our character fills her story with drama and humour. She tells of studying in secret in Prague, travelling to Paris and marrying her Teacher and meeting the star of the Folies Bergere. She talks of the first X-rays and the tortuous work discovering Polonium and Radium which lead to our understanding Atomic Structure. She discusses radiation, and the damage it did to her, the Nobel Prizes, her husband’s lecture at the Royal Society and his death. She explains the modern image of the atom and molecular structure, the periodic table, and offers rational explanations of the immense value and debt we owe to radio-activity and puts its dangers into true perspective
